Add and Edit Power BI data sources on Power Platform Admin Center

We are happy to announce that we have made enhancements to gateway management operations on Power Platform Admin center. We have added the new features listed below:

  • Edit data source
  • Add data source

Edit data source

In the last release, we introduced the “Data sources” tab on Power Platform Admin center which provided visibility into all data sources you have access to. This includes data sources you have access to, the data sources on gateways which you are an admin of and also cloud data sources which you have used in your Power BI datasets.  Clicking on the “Settings” for a data source only provided a read-only” view in the past.

With this release you will now be able to edit applicable data source properties.

Add data source

With this feature you can now create an on-premises or a VNet data source by clicking on “+New” on the admin portal.

You can then select a gateway cluster, add data source name, data source type and other data source properties to create the data source.

As we have mentioned before, this feature will replace the “Manage gateways”  page in Power BI and gateway management in all services across Power Platform in the future, so please try it and let us know what other capabilities you’d like to see in the future.
