New! Get introduced to DAX with Guided Learning

DAX, or Data Analysis Expressions, is the language of Power BI.

Knowing how to write DAX formulas is the key to creating expressive and advanced reports. It allows you to form calculated columns and measures from scratch, and include complex filters, aggregation functions, conditional logic, and more.

In fact, understanding DAX is such a useful part of advanced Power BI techniques that it was by far the most requested new content for our Guided Learning resource. That’s why we’re pleased to announce the launch of the new Introduction to DAX section of Guided Learning!

The new course covers everything from what DAX is, to using advanced functions to filter tables. As with other sections in Guided Learning, each topic has a video explanation, screenshot examples, and text description. Content for this section was excerpted from our 2016 Microsoft Data Insights Summit presentation, DAX 101, by renowned expert Alberto Ferrari. Thanks to Alberto for teaching this course.

We hope you find this Introduction to DAX helpful. As always, we welcome your feedback on this new section, and what other Guided Learning sections you’d like to see in the future. We’re looking to add even more learning resources in the future, so stay tuned!
