New Power BI regions in India, Australia, and the United States

Starting today, Power BI is expanding to three new regions, allowing customers to locate their Power BI deployments closer to their data sources, either in Azure or on-premises, enabling faster performance of data refresh and lower networking egress costs.  The new regions are:

  • Central India

  • Australia East

  • Central US (Iowa)

With the addition of these three new regions, Power BI is now available in 16 regions in our global public cloud, in addition to six regions in our three national clouds, Power BI for US Government, Power BI Germany, and Power BI in China (operated by 21Vianet).

Existing public cloud customers can leverage these new regions by deploying Power BI Premium Multi-Geo capacity.  New customers will be automatically provisioned in these regions based on their tenant country and state.  The regions are available for Power BI Embedded users as well when provisioning capacities through the Azure portal or API.
