UN’s Millennium Development Goals Data Visualizations

“The MDGs have been the greatest anti-poverty push in history. New partnerships have been established. New actors have engaged. And now we must finish the job…”. These are the words of Ban Ki-Moon, United Nations Secretary General about the UN’s Millennium Development Goals initiative.

This worldwide effort launched in 2000 was created to generate political momentum and mobilize global action to reach historic and aggressive goals on poverty, hunger, health and education among others.

Since the MDG inception, millions of people have been lifted out of poverty. The UN Millennium Campaign in partnership with Microsoft decided to map UN DESA data with Excel and Power BI to show the progress of each goal over the last 14 years.

The result is this amazing gallery showing a data visualization of each goal and its progress worldwide.
