Announcing granular tenant settings in Power BI

Power BI allows organizations to monitor and analyze their most critical business data. As such, it’s very important for administrators to have control over how Power BI is used in their organizations. Today, I am happy to announce an exciting new update to the Power BI admin portal that provides more control for organizations. With this release, many Power BI tenant settings can be managed at a granular level: administrators can now enable or disable different Power BI features for only a subset of users in their tenant.

Announcing support for Amazon Redshift connectivity in the Power BI service

A few months ago we released a Preview of the Amazon Redshift connector in Power BI Desktop. This new connector allows users to easily build reports based on their Redshift data, either by importing the data into Power BI Desktop or by using DirectQuery mode. Today we are very excited to announce support for Redshift-based reports in the Power BI Service, allowing users to publish their reports to unlock seamless consumption of reports & dashboards based on Redshift data. In this blog post, we will show you step-by-step how to accomplish this task.

Announcing the Power BI solution template for Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Project Service Automation

Today we are excited to announce the release of the Power BI solution template for Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Project Service Automation. This template includes sets of reports designed for professional service practice managers, resource managers and account managers. The solution template offers a very fast guided experience to create compelling reports on an extensible, scalable, and secure architecture and can be customized as needed. This means that instead of spending your time on plumbing, you can instead spend it on extending and customizing the solution template to meet your organization’s needs.

Announcing the Advanced Search Solution Template for Bing News

Today we are excited to announce the advanced search solution template for Bing News (a counterpart to the Twitter template released last September). Upon defining a search term of interest, a brand manager can use our template to find and read the articles most relevant to them. The template extends the Bing News Search capabilities by allowing users to filter on things like sentiment, topics, as well as organizing data into known locations people and organizations. A brand manager can quickly drill into an entity to filter snippets and navigate to articles relevant to their search.
